Mirror

Photo Booth Mirror

In an attempt to make your own image more human, less startling, Apple flips the feed from your iSight most of the time. That is, it flips the image horizontally when displaying it on your screen. It becomes a mirror, something you're used to. "This is done because for most people, the only time they see their self live is in the mirror." To others--say on the oppisite side of an iChat--the video comes through unaltered--right is right. If you want to see what they do, use iMovie or the option in Photo Booth--Edit, Auto Flip New Photos--Apple-Shift-F.

why is the true mirror so positively creepy?

You think one's creepier than the other?

Try crossing your eyes to merge, I oughtta look friendlier then.

Or at least your average person would see so--symmetry is beautiful generally.

Thanx, I've collected these for a while. Sad how often you get the same illos though.

No wide-bodied plane has ever ditched into the ocean and left survivors. The cushions are useless, and yet these common people cling in every pamphlet. Pacifiers.

Quietly Scheming Creates

Display Shelf

Monday the most impressive implementation of my Fliptych I've seen since CoverFlow flew into my feeds. Ely Greenfield, a developer at Macromedia/Adobe (creator of the Flex-Ajax Bridge), has built a fliptych interface that runs in any Flash-enabled browser, able to represent visually any dataset available on the web. His open source Flex component has already been used to navigate Flickr pools and YouTube content. That's in just the first two weeks since the source was made available--imagine any web-app developer--now they're able to incorporate the fliptych browsing metaphor into sites personal-to-corporate, with relative ease, for free. This is huge.

And just as before, this developer has paid proper attention to aesthetics and feel--this work honors mine, and again I'm humbled. My feelings here go beyond appreciation and respect. This idea didn't just find it's way into an app, maybe the app--it's now a tool, freely in the hands of creators. I can't say thanks enough for carrying this for me.

Yeah, it's easy, but I'm a sucker. She saw it too and thought she should for me but second guessed, thinking I would think it was easy. I told her I bought it, she said she shoulda trusted herself.
