Quotations

"Nah I just think that nobody can cause any effect on you, you know what I mean, you are the cause of your own effects on yourself and you can only experience what you cause for yourself, you know what I mean, that's what I pretty much believe. If you want to go out and skate and get tricks you're gonna go out and skate and get tricks." - Jim Greco

Error or Hack?

Grab Hold Hacked
Please view the full image as well.

One of my Grab Holds was owned in February. Or perhaps more likely, Flickr suffered some database corruption.

Predictions Based on Rumors

1. The OS X-based iPods supposedly due in the fall will employ the iPod interface from the iPhone but will also feature a "classic mode" that emulates the click wheel. Something like this, or this, or this.

2. The beta of Dashcode just expired, leaving the only copies out there in the hands of Leopard developers. When Dashcode is final it will be able to make iPhone widgets as well. Not quite an SDK, but better than nothing. But I've said all this before.

Blogger Andy thought:

I kinda think number two is a shame. Cause what I'd want as a developer is access to the full screen and access to the full internals.

But baby-steps, test-the-waters, conduct experiments, float tester products--that's the modern Apple.

Blogger Andy thought:

I almost used this as another this, cause I think the person who photoshopped it was right on with the colored bezel. We'll see those. Pink first sadly, too much green.

Critical Theory

An Exhibit

For a sec thought this had to be an ex-intern of mine.

If so, sorry Tara. Sorry for the state of "critical theory".

A Portal

It would be great if my Clippings weren't just photoshopped screencaps--what if instead, they were big, square, dynamic windows into the site or scan being referenced?

Two-pixel white border, my crop--but clickable, and draggable, and zoomable too. Something worth being called a portal. It can be done I'm sure, so why haven't I seen it? Or really, seen any crop interfaces at all?

Soon, people will interact with crops of the web everyday, as their computers will be in their pockets. The iPhone, and soon Web Clip are a good first stab at the problem. So for-sure, second-gen crop interfaces are worth devoting some cycles to.
