My Kaffiyeh

“I’m not too up to speed in what’s going on in the Middle East,” said Liz Chernett, a strategic consultant in branding and a youth trends expert who bought a kaffiyeh from a vendor on St. Mark’s Place three months ago. “It’s an aesthetic thing.”
For not the second or third time in my life, I was way ahead of the Times' Sunday Style section. In this case, they finally caught on the wind this whole keffiyeh mess (they spell it kaffiyeh), something I've been bitching about for years. They sum it fine, throwing one nice diss at the violently fashionable--they're just rehashing the conflicts of '88.
